It is 13 1/2 inches long and 3 inches wide. Check the drop down options menu for available species. If you don’t see the one you want, send us a convo and tell us to stop being lazy and make some.
It is 13 1/2 inches long and 3 inches wide. It has 3 large slots cut into the thin blade for draining frying oils. The front edge of the blade angles up to the right and the edge tapers very thin. The one shown is an example. The one you will receive will vary a little and grain and color. Finished with beeswax and mineral oil.
The blade portion is 7 inches long to the longest point of the angled front edge. I put a bend towards the back of the blade so the usable portion is 5 1/2 inches. That bend helps to clear the sides of the pan and I can keep it thinner because it is wider without weakening the handle.
This utensil is “pre-washed” so to speak. The grain has been raised with water during the finishing process to remove any loose fiber ends so the spoon will remain smooth after you use it.
Care is easy, just wash in hot soapy water, towel dry, and apply some mineral oil or walnut oil every couple of weeks or you can buy some of our spoon oil finish which is Beeswax and mineral oil. A 4 oz. jar lasts for a long time and it will help to keep your spoon looking and feeling good for many years.

Care is easy. Just wash with hot soapy water and towel dry. Don’t put it in the dishwasher and don’t leave it soaking for long periods in the sink. Apply some mineral oil every two weeks or some oil and beeswax mixed together. With proper care, your spoon will look and feel good for many years.
We put a lot of effort into our spoons and we care very much about them. I’ve started including a care and maintenance kit with your orders. I include a sample of our spoon oil, a piece of 0000 steel wool, and a piece of 320 grit sandpaper along with instructions for care. When the wool and sandpaper run out they can be found at any hardware store and they are not expensive. I also include instructions for making your own spoon oil at home when the sample runs out. Or you can buy it from us. If you are giving our spoons as a gift for more than one person, leave us a message on the order form and we’ll include a kit for each person. If you follow the instructions, your tools will last a lifetime or beyond.
Our spoon oil finish:
May you cook delicious food, drink fine wine, and enjoy the warmth of family and friends around the table.
Happy cooking,
Robert and Gwynne Kidd, treenmakers
